Rumors say that the most useful plug-ins will be added to later revisions
of the software.  This will avoid 3DS plug-in syndrome.

I imagine it would operate as closly as possible to the original plug-in,
including interface, but the original plug-ins would work as well.  Just
would be easier to use the built-in one.

The point of Plug-Ins is so that not only NewTek can write utilities for
LightWave -- anyone can.  The plug-in prices from LW will not be as huge
as 3DS ($1000 for a raytracer), but will be better scaled to LW's own
price (no one will pay more than the programs cost for a plug-in!)

So, I don't mind paying for a plug-in.  Thing about 3DS is to do most of
the stuff that LW has built-in (raytracing, lensflares, bones) you have
to get a plug-in for it.  LW already has a superb core set of features,
and any very useful plug-ins will likly be integreted into the next
version.  Plug-ins for LW only make it more powerful.
